We love to celebrate the successes and achievements of our staff and students, but we also want to keep everyone informed about what's happening in the wider family of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology.

The University has announced 40 new Chancellor's Fellows, including Dr Jonathan Gardner.

The most recent round of academic promotions has just been announced in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology.

The People of CAHSS Awards winners were announced last week in a ceremony in McEwen Hall. And you bet (spoiler alert) HCA staff were among the winners! 

The School congratulates its student who recently completed the Edinburgh Award.

The HAZEL project is a collaboration - led by Dr Chiara Bonacchi - between the Heritage Minds Lab at The University of Edinburgh and experts at Historic England.

A scale model of a Renaissance Italian walled city, created as part of the Gradara project, won the Best Presented Game award at the Salute Wargames Convention - the largest of its kind in the world, with around 10,000 attendees - in London recently.

The School is sorry to announce the death of Professor Harry Dickinson, Emeritus Professor of British History, on 24 January 2024. 

The subject of the research project 'Alice Thornton's Books' has her own week of celebrations.

Dr Wendy Ugolini has been awarded a major Research Grant by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

Professor Andrew Erskine, Professor of Ancient History, has been awarded a one-year Leverhulme Research Fellowship.

Dr Manuel Fernández-Götz has been appointed as a new member of the Young Academy of Scotland (YAS), with his term starting in January 2021 for a period of five years.
