Book award for Classics staff

Dr Aaron Pelttari has been awarded the Ladislaus J. Bolchazy Pedagogy Book Award, 2021.

The School was delighted to learn that Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS) had announced Aaron’s book ‘The Psychomachia of Prudentius: Text, Commentary, and Glossary (Norman: The University of Oklahoma, 2018) winner of the 2021 Ladislaus J. Bolchazy Pedagogy Book Award.

In a press release the awarding subcommittee members praised his book calling it a remarkable work of exceptionally high quality. It is a major contribution to the scholarship and teaching of late ancient Latin and it should find numerous enthusiastic readers from a variety of orientations toward the material.”

The award, honoring a leading figure in the development and production of textbooks for teachers and students of Classics, Ladislaus J. Bolchazy, is usually presented annually at the meeting of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South. This year, Dr Pelttari’s award will be recognized at the closing ceremony of the virtual CAMWS meeting in April 2021.
