The MSc by Research in Scottish History offers you the opportunity to undertake a substantial piece of supervised independent research in Scottish History.

The programme aims to introduce you to independent research. You will be assigned two supervisors with expertise in your chosen area to help you to complete your thesis.

The University of Edinburgh has one of the largest concentrations of scholars interested in the Scottish past.

Scottish History students play an active role in the research life of the History Subject Area and the School of History, Classics and Archaeology through participating in reading groups, seminars and workshops and conferences.
