Facilities & community

Archaeology is a close-knit community with access to excellent facilities including labs and artefact teaching collections.

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology (HCA) at Edinburgh boasts outstanding laboratory facilities and a highly-skilled technical team. Together they support teaching, training, and research, across all levels including undergraduate and postgraduate students, post-doctoral researchers and staff.

A world-class teaching and research resource, the Vere Gordon Childe Collection brings together remarkable artefacts from across the globe, offering a tangible connection to the human past.

Our dedicated and informal study areas and computer labs are complemented by a host of other study resources nearby.

Edinburgh is home to several archaeology societies and organisations, including the lively student-run ArchSoc.
