Edinburgh is home to several archaeology societies and organisations, including the lively student-run ArchSoc. Student-led societies The University’s popular student-run archaeological society, ArchSoc, organise regular daytrips, seminars and social events. Their website also provides a wealth of advice on studying archaeology, fieldwork, equipment and academic resources. ArchSoc Society of Antiquaries of Scotland Outside the University, The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland holds regular lectures, and also hosts the annual Rhind Lecture, where an expert presents a detailed examination of an archaeological topic over one weekend. Fellowship of the Society is open to anyone with an interest in archaeology and history; applications are considered in late November.
