Inaugural Lecture: Professor Wendy Ugolini War makes visible the complexities of personal identity construction and identifications. Professor Ugolini’s research, in particular, focuses on the idea of dual identities and dual allegiances, what are sometimes termed hybrid or split identities, within wartime constructions of Britishness. This inaugural lecture will examine the ways in which dual identities can be performed, mobilised, or challenged in wartime British society, addressing Professsor Ugolini’s work on British Italian and English Welsh experience.
