Classics alumni profiles

Classics has been taught in one way or another since the University was founded. What is its role in the modern workplace, though?

Dominic now, in a professional headshort. He has curly brown hair and a moustache.

A love of the minutiae of language and a stint on student radio made journalism the ideal choice.

It taught me a real appreciation for language and the way it's used, in far greater depth than most people would ever imagine.

Tristan has dark hair and a beard, and smiles against a backdrop of the pyramids

Tristan brings the past to life at 'History Hit', using skills and knowledge from his Ancient History degree to persuade and inform.

My year abroad in Australia was a cornerstone experience—far from home, immersed in a highly regarded classics department, my vision to pursue a career centred on history was reinforced.

Tess now, she smiles broadly in a selfie

MSc Classics alumna Tessa translated her love of ancient language into the modern world of digital marketing.

The ability to look at problems through another lens is invaluable.

Ariella has long wavy hair and smiles at the camera

A childhood passion for the Greek myths inspired Ariella to study Classics, and now to teach the subject herself.

“My quality of the subject knowledge has been hugely enriched by my degree.”
