Students who studied for a Masters degree in history reflect on their experiences.

Tristan studied in Edinburgh for his undergraduate before beginning his MSc in Medieval History. His interests include Icelandic sagas, Old Norse poetry, and widening access to education.

Tate, MSc in Contemporary History, hails from California, USA. She enjoys taking long walks across Edinburgh, and warm chocolate croissants. Not keen on butterflies.

Ellie is a MSc by Research student focusing on perceptions of witchcraft and the supernatural. She can often be found wandering around historical sites, museums, and galleries...she is a historian after all!

Gemma is a Contemporary History student. A fan of tours, she also enjoys a visit to the University's Anatomy Museum (located beside our building).

A self-confessed bookworm, Olivia can be found exploring the shelves of the many bookshops in Edinburgh.

Recent graduate Michael is interested particularly in medical history. One thing Michael enjoyed since moving here is reading books set in Edinburgh and exploring the city in life and literature. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and the Rebus novels are probably favourites.

Ruby graduated History MA(Hons) in 2020. She recently completed an MSc in History, also with the School. She enjoys roller derby and dancing to cheesy music.

Maria is from the US and is passionate about travelling, tea and any kind of history she can get her hands (and mind) on.

Chris is an MSc in History (Online) student who was attracted to the prestige of the university and the flexibility of the course programme.

John is an MSc in History (Online) student who enjoys interacting with fellow online learning students .

Recent MSc in Contemporary History student, Ellis, was drawn by the breadth and diversity of the subject area.

Victoria, MSc in Scottish History graduate, was impressed by the reputation and tradition of history at Edinburgh.

Samantha, MSc in Medieval History, chose Edinburgh to get close to where history happened.

A particular structure and the chance for adventure persuaded Meg out of the 9 to 5 and into an MSc (Taught) in History.

Kate, MSc (Taught) in Contemporary History, enjoyed linking historical topics to present day life, in her chosen postgraduate degree.

Finbar, MSc (Taught) in Intellectual History, found focus with flexibility in his chosen postgraduate degree.
