The MSc by Research in History offers you the opportunity to undertake a substantial piece of supervised independent research in your chosen field.

This programme aims to introduce you to independent research. You will be assigned two supervisors with expertise in your chosen area to help you to complete your thesis.

As an MSc by Research student in History you will form part of a large and vibrant scholarly community of historians and benefit from the research resources available in the University and the city of Edinburgh.

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology is home to a large community of postgraduate historians undertaking both taught and research degrees.
