Research in Archaeology, Classics and History has a tradition of excellence dating back to the 19th century. Researchers are constantly exploring how an understanding of the past can shape the future. Image Today the School has around 80 core researchers and over 30 honorary fellows. Research Excellence Framework 2021 Research in the futureThe School has been particularly successful in attracting high quality, externally funded postdoctoral fellows and research students. The newer members of the School are balanced by a group of established scholars who have been elected to a range of learned societies, including the British Academy, Academy of Social Sciences, and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and are very active in the work of these bodies and other professional and funding organisations including the AHRC, the Classical Association, the Royal Historical Society and the Historical Association.
