This seems to be the time of year for good news and the School was delighted to learn of yet another success for a Classics alumna. Image Dr Stavroula Valtadorou has been awarded the Philadelphia Constantinidis Essay in Critical Theory Award from the Comparative Drama Conference for the year of 2020 for her work 'Erôs in pieces (?): Tragic Erôs in Euripides fragmentary Andromeda and Antigone'. The prize is worth $1000 and will be presented in a ceremony in Orlando, Florida in October. Stavroula graduated with a PhD in Classics in 2020, her thesis being ‘Eros, Euripides and a Re-evaluation of Greek Sexuality with Particular Reference to Alcestis, Andromache, Andromeda, Antigone and Helen’ supervised by Professor Douglas Cairns and Dr Richard Rawles. The School sends its warmest congratulations to Stavroula on her award. More on the Comparative Drama Conference This article was published on 2024-08-01
