Structuring and visualizing data workshop Event details The School of History, Classics and Archaeology is offering an introduction to issues around working with historical data and database design. This workshop will introduce a workflow for creating visualizations that can be used in presentations and for analytical purposes. Participants will gain hands-on experience of creating database tables (in Google spreadsheets), of cleaning and enhancing their data, and of building visualizations using a variety of free sites and tools, including Gephi and software from Tableau. There will also be space for a discussion of how these tools can help to address various research questions. No previous digital experience is required, but participants should have an account on Google Drive and may prefer to bring their own laptops, in which case they would need to download some free software in advance of the workshop. A small drinks reception will follow the workshop. Free event Registration if free but places are limited. About the speaker The workshop will be presented by Silke Vanbeselaere, University of Leuven who is an experienced presenter who researches social networks in Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt.
