A new edition of 'Cicero: Orations', edited by Dr Dominic Berry, has been published by the Folio Society this month. Image An influence on many great modern speakers, the nuances of Cicero's language are carefully preserved in the acclaimed 2006 translations by Dr Berry. The book contains translations of twelve speeches by Cicero, accompanied by introductions and notes. WIth a preface by Sir Peter Stothard, the editor of the Times Literary Supplement, who shows how Cicero ‘is studied by many who do not even know that they are studying it’, the book also contains specially commissioned illustrations by the renowned artist and printmaker Tom Phillips CBE RA.
