The Centre for the Study of the Two World Wars is hosting a conference 'Fighting for Britain? Negotiating identities in Britain during the Second World War' on the 28th & 29th of June 2012. Through an examination of veteran experience and visual, literary and filmic representations, this conference explores the concept of Britain as a multi-national state in wartime. The conference also addresses the relationship between Ireland and Britain, in particular Irish citizens who volunteered to serve in the British armed forces.
