Dr Chris Harding is working with the BBC on a global series looking at how culture shapes people’s experiences of mental illness and mental health. (Published 30th May 2016) HTML Image This fascinating new series is being aired from the 30th of May at 8pm, and a new episode will be aired weekly at the same time (on a Monday at 8pm) for three weeks following that episode. The series examines depression in Japan, adolescent mental health in Sweden, voice-hearing in the UK and healing in Ghana. Dr Harding is writing and presenting the episodes which are rooted in his research on culture and mental health/illness. It will be available on iPlayer after each episode has been aired. An extra episode to be added when the series goes out on the World Service from August, will be a roundtable discussion based on the issues raised in the series. Dr Harding was one of the BBC’s New Generation Thinkers in 2013 and writes a popular blog – ‘The Boredom Project’. He has been one of HCA's Impact Champions for the academic year 2014-15 in acknowledgement of his work with a variety of external non-academic agencies.
