Staff shortlisted for Teaching Awards

Three members of staff from across the School of History, Classics and Archaeology have been shortlisted in the forthcoming EUSA Teaching Awards. The School too has received recognition from students in the Best School category.

Many more received first stage nominations; well deserved acknowledgment for their hard work and efforts.

Shortlisted nominees

The School has a guaranteed winner for the Best Personal Tutor Award with Dr David Kaufman, Lecturer in History (Online Distance Learning) and Dr Ulf-Dietrich Schoop, Lecturer in Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology, competing for the award.

Dr Kaufman has been shortlisted a second time for the Teaching with Technology Award; credit for his innovative teaching on the MSc in History (online).

Dr Rob Dinnis, Early Career Fellow, has been shortlisted for the Ian Campbell Award for Teaching in the Humanities and Social Sciences. This award recognises inspiring teachers who are the best of the best within each College.

Best School

The School has been shortlisted for the prestigious Best School or Subject Area Award for providing a supportive learning environment and encouraging a sense of belonging amongst students. Head of School, Professor Ian Ralston, is delighted by the complement of nominees this year.

Awards evening

The awards, which aim to recognise the teachers, support staff and students who have a positive impact on students’ learning experience, launched in 2008/9 and are the first fully student created and run university teaching award scheme in the UK.

Winners will be announced at the awards evening in Teviot Row House on Wednesday, 23 April.
