University of Edinburgh staff, students and alumni are brought together for a week of inspiring activiites as part of Innovative Learning Week 2014. Last week staff and students in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology took part in the annual University Innovative Learning Week (ILW). Fun for all From Monday 17 February normal teaching was suspended for one full week. The School offered more events than ever this year; a broad programme of creative and experiential learning activities, with something for everyone. Activities included overseas trips; UK excursions to castles, historical sites, galleries and museums; a whole range of practical workshops, film showings and productions. Official ILW photographers, students recruited by the central ILW team, were on hand throughout the week taking photographs and blogging about a number of events. Innovative Learning Week is a University wide initiative that brings together staff, students and alumni for a week of inspiring activities. The aim is to give those involved the opportunity to explore new subjects of interest, gain employability skills, make valuable connections and, of course, to have fun. Innovative Learning Week 2014 highlights My degree was as different as it gets from heading across town to Cyan Clayworks to try my hand at making clay pots as part of Innovative Learning Week. The ceramic workshop was an insightful and enjoyable afternoon – plus I now have two pots to take home, so two less Christmas presents to buy!
