Screening of “The Trojan Women” by the Trojan Women Project

Written and performed by a cast of UK-based war refugees and asylum seekers, The Trojan Women Project performed one of the most well-known and touching adaptations of Euripides’ 'Trojan Women', firstly staged in Athens in 415 BC.

The original play, set at the end of the Trojan war, represented the suffering of forced misplacement and slavery that the Trojan women experienced after the Greek victory. In continuous dialogue with Euripides' words and feelings, the Trojan Women performance witnesses the stories of those who have fled areas of conflicts (such as Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine) to find refuge in the UK.
