Denys Hay Lecture 2017

The Denys Hay seminar is held to commemorate the work of Denys Hay (1915-1994), Professor of Medieval History at the University of Edinburgh from 1954 to 1980.

He specialized in Medieval and Renaissance history, particularly in demonstrating the influence of Italy on events in the rest of the continent. His scholarly legacy remains closely related to the activities of the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.

The Denys Hay seminar is held annually. It is a public lecture given by an eminent academic working in medieval or Renaissance fields, and financed by the Denys Hay endowment fund established to enhance postgraduate work in this field.
