Join scholars from across the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, who in a new series of public lectures will challenge popular beliefs and reassess intriguing events from throughout history. The lectures will take place between 10th and 13th August 2015. HTML Image Question and re-inform These events will delve into contested aspects of history; the elite Roman military, the state of Scottish politics, the wild man of the ancient world, and the French national identity crisis. Calling upon historical evidence, strategies and interpretations to support their arguments, the academics will question and re-inform accepted historical accounts of these topics, whilst revealing their own research and points of view. The events will also be followed by interactive question and answer sessions, giving members of the audience a chance to voice their own opinions and engage in some lively debate. Dr David Kaufman of the University of Edinburgh’s School of History, Classics and Archaeology, and organiser of this latest series of lectures said: “These events will offer new ideas about some interesting milestones in history, and in an entertaining way assess how convincing accepted historical accounts actually are.” Programme The lectures are taking place throughout August and will be held at 1pm in the Anatomy Lecture Theatre, University of Edinburgh, Doorway 3, Medical School, Teviot Place, Edinburgh, EH8 9AG.
