Professor Geoff Eley, the Karl Pohrt Distinguished Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Michigan, will join us for an evening seminar discussing Europe in the world from 1914-1940, focussing on race, colony and empire.

A drinks reception will be held in the McMillan Room after the seminar.

About the speaker

Professor Eley is a long-standing member of the editorial board of the journal Social History. His books include: Forging Democracy: The History of the Left in Europe, 1850-2000; A Crooked Line: From Cultural History to the History of Society; and Nazism as Facism: Violence, Ideology and the Ground of Consent in Germany, 1930-1945.
