Cfp: AHGN Graduate Conference - Asia in the global context

Growing emphasis is being placed on studying Asia’s history and its prominent role in the global context. Scholarships that move away from the longstanding Eurocentric approach and place Asia at the centre have led to new narratives on cultural exchange, political dialogue and interconnectedness within the global world.

This conference will explore Asia within the global framework and examine how historical narratives are shifting to place Asia at the centre.

We welcome submissions from all disciplines, but request that each presentation place some emphasis on history. We kindly request applicants be current graduate students. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Anthropology and Sociology
  • Politics and culture
  • Trade and Material Culture
  • Media and Film
  • Gender Studies
  • Language and Literature
  • Economics
  • Migration and diaspora

This conference will be in person (please note there will be no fees for participants or attendees).
